Private dietitian services are not covered by MSP. However, if you have extended health benefits with Blue Cross or Sun Life through your job, a registered dietitian is usually covered (not always, unfortunately). Each insurance plan is different, so check with your insurance provider. Let me know if you need help with this!
I don’t do direct billing at this time, meaning that my clients pay me (usually by etransfer) and then I send a receipt which they can submit online to be reimbursed. (It can be a stressful and confusing system, so let me know if you have questions about this!)
If cost is a barrier, email me or book a free discovery call to talk about 'sliding scale'/affordable appointments, and I will do my best to work with what you can afford.
Yes! Talking about eating can be deeply personal, so it's important to work with a registered dietitian you click with. Whether you're trying to decide if you want to see a dietitian at all or looking to see if my vibe is right, a discovery call offers a no-commitment way to connect, explore your needs, and see if my approach feels right for you.
I am able to see clients who live anywhere in British Columbia virtually through the platform "Jane" and hope that virtual services allow for people in rural and remote communities to access the support they need.
If you live locally (in Kitimat, BC) and would like to be seen in-person, please email me or book a free discovery call. In-person space is rented based on booking, so location details will be sent 2 days before your in-person appointment.
Evening and weekend appointments available!
Before your first appointment, you will be sent consent forms and an intake form to fill out that gives me an idea of what you're looking for. It will include some basic questions about your medical history and medications, and questions about your current and past eating patterns.
During your first appointment, we can talk about who you are, what you're looking for, and what goals you have - then we will come up with a plan together to meet them. Expect me to ask about your favorite foods, the foods you don't enjoy, and the foods you only eat because your parents told you to!
Unless there are special circumstances, I will not ask you:
for body measurements (weight/height)
for a food journal
to stop eating specific foods or food groups (unless you are allergic!)
Sometimes it can be really helpful to work with other health care professionals, but your trust and confidentiality are most important. The decision is yours and the process will be very transparent! If we decide to involve another person in your care, we can chat about what you would and wouldn't like shared.
Yes - your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves an empty appointment that could have been filled by another client. As such, I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee.
The website used for booking, Jane, sends automatic text and email reminders before your appointment to avoid missing it!
The short answer is no. Newer evidence shows that when people change the way they eat to try to lose weight, it causes negative effects on mental health and nutrition, and increases risks of chronic diseases like diabetes.
I will support you to eat healthier, whatever that means to you, regardless of your body size or weight.

Feel free to book a discovery call to ask more questions and see if we're a good fit!
If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer them
via email or a free discovery call!
